Killyon Farm Cottages
Killyon Farm Cottages sit in the peaceful farmland south of Castle Douglas, offering a genuine rural retreat for dog owners who want space, quiet, and easy access to some of Galloway’s finest walking country. The cottages are well-equipped for self-catering stays and each has access to private outdoor space where dogs can relax after a day on the trail.
The Setting
Set on a working farm near the village of Gelston, the cottages are surrounded by open countryside with field and hedgerow walks straight from the door. Castle Douglas itself is just a short drive away, offering excellent independent food shops, butchers, and cafes that make self-catering a real pleasure in this part of Scotland.
Dog Policy
Up to two dogs are welcome per cottage at a charge of £20 per dog per stay. Dogs must be kept on leads around the farm and its livestock, which is entirely standard for a working farm environment. There is a private enclosed garden area where dogs can be let off lead safely.
Nearby Walks
Loch Ken is within easy reach, with waymarked trails along the loch shore and through the Ken-Dee Marshes RSPB reserve. The Galloway Hills offer more demanding walks for adventurous owners, while the quiet lanes and field paths around Gelston are ideal for gentle morning strolls.
