Galloway Wildlife Conservation Park
Galloway Wildlife Conservation Park is a small but impressive conservation facility set in woodland near Kirkcudbright, housing a range of rare and endangered species from across the globe. Animals include wildcats, red pandas, lynx, otters, and a variety of birds of prey and reptiles.
Important note for dog owners: dogs are not permitted inside the park. This is a firm policy in place to protect the welfare of the animals housed there. If you are travelling with a dog, you will need to make arrangements — one person can remain with the dog in the car park while others visit, or plan to visit on a day when your dog can be left safely elsewhere.
The park is well worth a visit for wildlife-loving families and conservation enthusiasts, and it is particularly good for children. The woodland setting is pleasant, and the animal enclosures are thoughtfully designed. Kirkcudbright town itself is a wonderful dog-friendly destination, so combining a park visit with a town walk works well as a day out.
