Carlinwark Loch Lodges

Accommodation Carlinwark Loch, Castle Douglas

Carlinwark Loch sits at the very heart of Castle Douglas, and these well-appointed lodges make the most of that waterside setting. Dogs are welcomed warmly here, and the loch-side path that rings Carlinwark is one of the finest easy walks in the area – flat, scenic, and popular with local dog walkers at any time of year.

The Location

Castle Douglas is rightly known as Galloway’s Food Town, and the lodges are ideally placed for exploring everything the town has to offer. Independent butchers, bakers, delis, and the excellent Sulwath Brewery are all within easy walking distance. The loch itself attracts a wide variety of wildfowl and wading birds, making it a pleasure to walk at any season.

Dog Policy

Dogs of all sizes are welcome at a charge of £15 per dog per stay, with a maximum of two dogs per lodge. Dogs should be kept on leads along the shared loch-side path out of consideration for other guests and wildlife. Water bowls are available on request.

Nearby Walks

Beyond the loch circuit, the surrounding farmland and Loch Ken are within easy reach for longer walks. The Ken-Dee Marshes RSPB reserve, Threave Estate (National Trust for Scotland), and the Galloway Hills are all accessible within a short drive.
